Muscat: The Supreme Council for Planning (SCP) on Thursday met under the chairmanship of Dr Ali bin Masoud al Sunaidy, Minister of Commerce and Industry. The Council reviewed a report of its Secretariat General on the performance of the Omani economy, the local and international economic conditions, the performance of Muscat Securities Market and other economic indicators in light of the oil price drop and the effects of the same on the Sultanate’s financial condition. It also reviewed the major steps and procedures taken towards the strategic projects that have been approved by the SCP and means of addressing the challenges facing these projects. The SCP also discussed the steps taken by the Secretariat General on the National Strategy for Urban Development as the third and fourth stages of the project will be initiated next April.
