Sultanate wins gold medal at global photo fest

Durban, South Africa: The Sultanate, represented by the Photographic Society of Oman (PSO), was crowned with the gold medal at the 19th Biennial of Nature Photography 2018 for digital images and the honorary award at the 34th Biennale of Black and White Prints organised on the sidelines of the congress of the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP) at its 34th session in Durban, South Africa.


The results of the Biennial came as follows: Russia topped the World Cup in digital photography with a total of 248 points, the Sultanate won the gold medal for 232 points, followed by silver medalist Saudi Arabia with (221) points, and bronze medalist South Africa with (205) points.


The Sultanate took part in the printed photo exhibition in the Nature Biennale with ten (10) works in the Omani Turtle theme.


It ranked eleventh at the country level. Photographer Ismail bin Abdullah al Farsi won the individual level.


On the other hand, the Sultanate received the honorary award in Black and White Biennial.


The Sultanate is participating in FIAP congress meetings during the period from 11 to 17 August 2018, which is being held in Durban, South Africa, with the participation of as more as 53 countries.


The meeting was attended by Sayyid Ibrahim bin Said al Busaidi, representative of the Sultanate in FIAP, Ahmed bin Abdullah al Busaidi, Director of Photographic Society of Oman, representatives of the member states in FIAP and a large number of photographers from around the world. --ONA
