Sultanate, UNODC explore cooperation

MUSCAT: Yousef bin Abdullah al Afifi, Deputy Head of the Global Affairs Department, at the Foreign Ministry on Tuesday met with a delegation of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) led by Hatem Ali, UNODC’s Head of its Office for the GCC Region. The meeting covered the existing cooperation between the Sultanate and UNODC especially the cooperation with the National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking (NCCHT), which is chaired by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidi, Secretary-General of the Foreign Ministry. The UNODC delegation hailed the efforts made by the Sultanate to combat human trafficking that include promulgating the human trafficking combatting law, establishing NCCHT for the enforcement of this law and launching a national awareness raising campaign on human trafficking. — ONA
