Sultanate, UK look to expand trade, investment cooperation

MUSCAT: Darwish bin Ismaeel al Balushi, Minister Responsible for Financial Affairs, received on Monday Liam Fox, UK Secretary of State for International Trade. The meeting discussed means of developing cooperation between the two friendly countries, especially in fields related to investment. The minister explained to the guest the efforts made by the Sultanate’s government to diversify sources of national income and the financial policies followed by the government to improve financial performance and empower the financial sector to contribute to the development process. He also highlighted the foreign investment inflows to the Sultanate; thanks to the economic and financial stability it enjoys.

Liam Fox expressed admiration of the financial and economic policies adopted by the Sultanate’s government and hailed the government’s programs and efforts in the financial and economic sectors. Dr Ali bin Masoud al Sunaidy, Minister of Commerce and Industry, also met Dr Liam Fox at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre. The two sides reviewed indicators of inter-trade growth and means of promoting them. — ONA
