MANAMA: The Sultanate will take part today in the celebration of the sisterly Kingdom of Bahrain on the selection of Muharraq as the Capital of the Islamic Culture 2018. The Sultanate’s delegation in the ceremony comprises Dr Abdulmunim bin Mansour al Hasani, Minister of Information, and Shaikh Hamad bin Hilal al Maamari, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Culture for Cultural Affairs. A special ceremony will be held at Arad Fort in Muharraq to mark this occasion. The ceremony will be attended by a number of culture ministers in the Islamic states, as well as international leading figures. It should be noted that the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) has chosen the city of Muharraq as the Capital of Islamic Culture in recognition of its rich cultural diversity, as well as its historical heritage and importance in the Arabian Gulf region as a cultural, political, commercial and economic center. — ONA
