Sultanate marks World Anaesthesia Day with events

MUSCAT: Oman Society of Anaesthesia and Critical Care (OSACC) marked World Anesthesia Day on Saturday with a a number of awareness events.


The World Anesthesia Day ‘s aim is to make people know about the role of anaesthetists and clear their doubts. “We’ll be celebrating the Anaesthesia Week in Oman, which is the first time in the medical history, with a series of awareness programmes,” Dr Ramlaa al Qassab, Sr Consultant, Director of the Anesthesia and Critical Care at the Royal hospital and Chairperson of OSACC, said. World Anaesthesia Day is observed on October 16 in commemoration of the public demonstration of anaesthesia in 1846 at the Massachusetts General Hospital under the Harvard School of Medicine.


“Anaesthesiologist or anaesthetist are omnipresent in the hospital rendering their services from emergency department to operation theatres to intensive care units”, says Dr Juhi Chandwani, Senior Consultant at Adult Critical Care Department at the Royal Hospital.
