Sultanate to host Arabsat General Assembly meeting from today

MUSCAT: The meeting of the General Assembly of the Arab Satellite Communications Organisation (Arabsat) will be held today at the Grand Hyatt Hotel Muscat headed by Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al Futaisi, Minister of Transport and Communications, in the presence of ministers, under-secretaries and heads of delegations participating in the meeting.


Minister of Culture and Information of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Adel bin Zaid al Tarifi, will deliver the opening speech in which he will transfer the presidency of the conference to the Sultanate.


Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al Futaisi will deliver a speech that will inaugurate the agenda of the 40th session of the assembly that will discuss the agenda referred by Arabsat Board of Directors.


The Arabsat Board of Directors had concluded its work yesterday after discussing all the topics on the agenda, including the implementation of the previous session’s decisions, the report of the executive chairman, the report of the steering committee, the report of the governance team, the report of the audit committee and the report of the Board of Directors.


The Arabsat Board of Directors consists of nine countries: the Sultanate of Oman, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Libya, Sudan, Algeria and Djibouti. — ONA
