Sultanate flag to be hoisted at Asian games

ASHGABAT: The flag of the Sultanate will be hoisted in the Olympic Village for the 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, which will officially open on Sunday and continue until September 27 in the capital of Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, in the presence of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, with the participation of 22 Asian countries.


The competition includes 21 games: chess, indoor football, tennis, Muaythai, Kurash, Ju-jitsu, bowling, cycling, swimming, athletics, weightlifting, basketball, taekwondo, sports dancing, kickboxing, Belt wrestling, traditional wrestling, as well as snooker and billiards.


The official delegation of the Sultanate consists of: Khalid bin Mohammed al Zubair, Chairman of the Omani Olympic Committee, Taha bin Sulaiman al Kushari, Secretary-General of the Omani Olympic Committee, who will attend the next Olympic Council of Asia meeting next week. Mansour bin Sultan al Touqi, member of the Athletes Committee of the Olympic Council of Asia, will participate in the meeting of the athlete’s committee of the Olympic Council, and Saada bint Salim al Ismailia will participate in the meeting of the Women’s Sports Committee of the Olympic Council of Asia. — ONA
