BAGHDAD: The Sultanate, represented by the Ministry of Higher Education, participated in a workshop on the classification of Arab universities held in Baghdad under the patronage of Dr Abdul Razzaq Abdul Jalil al Issa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Republic of Iraq, in cooperation with the Arab Organization for Education, Iraqi Education, Culture and Science.

The seminar was attended by 13 Arab countries. The Sultanate was represented in the seminar by Dr Fatima bint Saeed al Hajriya, Director of the Department of Graduates Survey, and Nasr bin Nasser al Rakeishi, Assistant Director of the Equivalency and Recognition Department of the Ministry of Higher Education.

The Sultanate presented a paper on the experience of the Ministry of Higher Education on the project performance indicators for institutions of higher education in the Sultanate.

The seminar also discussed the importance of the existence of an Arab classification that takes into account the global indicators of classification in a way that crystallises the bases that Arab universities should adopt to improve their performance. This will allow them to compete and improve continuously, improve quality assurance and accreditation, and strengthen scientific ties between Arab universities.
