Sultanate and China to sign MoU on Silk Road

BEIJING: Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdallah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs, accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising senior officials, is visiting China.


A memorandum of understanding (MoU) will be signed between the Sultanate’s government and the Chinese government dealing with co-operation within the framework of the Silk Road Economic Belt (One Belt - One Road Initiative), the 21st century Maritime Silk Road.


The Omani delegation visited major Chinese economic and financial institutions, such as China Bank, CITIC Bank International and China Chamber of International Commerce (CCOIC). During the visit, Alawi will meet his Chinese counterpart and will hold talks to enhance and promote joint relations between the Sultanate and China.


The visit comes within the framework of the historic relations binding the Sultanate and China, as it stems from the common desire of the two countries to enhance areas of cooperation and consultation, as well as to develop horizons of economic, trade and investment partnership between the two countries.


The bilateral relations between the Sultanate and China are rapidly developing in various fields.


On May 25, the two friendly countries will mark the 40th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between the Sultanate and China. — ONA
