Sudan president’s assistant hails OOC’s efforts

MUSCAT: Shaikh Khalid bin Mohammed al Zubair, Chairman of Oman Olympic Committee (OOC), received on Wednesday Major General Abdulrahman al Sadiq al Mahdi, Assistant to the Sudanese President, in the presence of Taha bin Sulaiman al Kishry, OOC Secretary-General and Mohammed bin Essa al Fairooz, Chairman of International Tent Pegging Federation. Shaikh Khalid al Zubair and the Sudan’s official discussed coordination between the two countries in the sports field in the upcoming period. They exchanged views and proposals on supporting the Olympic sports in the future.


Abdulrahman al Mahdi praised the efforts made by OOC towards further developing various Olympic sports and the OOC’s continuing support to the tent pegging and equestrian sports. Al Mahdi said that the Sultanate plays host to the International Tent Pegging Federation and is a fundamentally active player in propagating tent pegging and equestrian sport. Al Mahdi is in Oman to attend the International Beach Tent Pegging Championship held at the Masira Island from March 10-12. South African won the title, while the Oman came second. Later, Rashad bin Ahmed al Hinai, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Sports Affairs received the president of Sudan Equestrian Federation.
