Success stories of Omani women at workplace are plenty and noteworthy

On the directives of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, the Council of Ministers has congratulated Omani women on the Omani Woman’s Day. In a statement issued here on Tuesday, the Council of Ministers said: “Celebration of the Omani Woman’s Day came as a means of embodying the care and attention accorded to woman. This attention enabled woman to occupy her deserved place in society. Hence, the 17th of October every year celebrates woman’s status as a partner in national action alongside man.”


“Success stories of Omani women at workplace in public and private domains are plenty and noteworthy. Women have played constructive roles in economic and social fields, and in literature, besides their basic role in the upbringing of generations, enhancing of family ties and fostering social harmony.


“The Omani woman has an ever-expanding role in the nation-building service. She has contributed to all fields of work in addition to her keenness in forming a responsible family, grooming the offspring and ensuring quality in her work. The government will spare no effort in providing more support to Omani woman and engaging her in all sectors of work and productivity so that she can continue to shoulder her responsibilities in consolidating the country’s comprehensive development and safeguarding its achievements.


“The Council of Ministers wishes Omani women further success and progress.”


Today there are 280,400 female students enrolled in public schools, making 49.7 per cent of total students, against 283,956 boys, according to 2016/2017 data of the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).


Omani women represent 47 per cent of the working manpower registered in the civil services. — ONA
