MUSCAT: The Joint Committee between Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) and the Ministry of Heritage and Culture (MoHC) on Sunday held a meeting under the chairmanship of Dr Ali bin Saud al Bimani, SQU Vice-Chancellor, and Salim bin Mohammed al Mahrouqi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Culture for Culture Affairs. The joint committee approved a study on the Omani aflaj and a study on utilising the Omani architectural heritage through finance and partnership in employment.
The committee discussed the possible ways for the ministry to benefit from the master programme in arts in archeology and the selection of Omani monuments related researches. It proposed carrying out joint field projects between SQU and the Ministry of Heritage and Culture to ensure public interests and maintain the Omani cultural heritage. It also discussed benefiting from SQU resources in conducing marine survey of the submerged monuments. — ONA
