MUSCAT, July 3 -

Salalah Methanol Company (SMC) has received 57 trainees since the beginning of 2017, including three students from Sultan Qaboos University (SQU).

They completed practical and theoretical training in different fields.

The training was aimed at developing students’ skills. They were trained in fields such as mechanical, chemical and electrical engineering, besides public relations, human resources, information technology and social work.

“The training at SMC helps students apply the theoretical knowledge gained at the university. It also helps them know the labour market situation and its needs,” said Saja Maghrab, a student from

Mass Communication Department, SQU.

According to SMC’s 2016 statistics, the company produced seven million tonnes of methanol liquid.

Omanisation in the company stood at 63 per cent. It funded 180 social responsibility initiatives.
