Students make smart trash bins

MUSCAT, June 7 - A smart trash bin has been created by a group of students from the Al Musanna College of Technology. The solar-powered product will be placed in all tourist areas across the Sultanate. These bins have sensors that detect trash and provide people with an “electric card” for charging mobile phones. This innovation, called ‘Hodar’, which means “hardworking” and “faithful”, is expected to contribute towards reducing pollution. The students are looking at creating new devices with wireless capability to serve homes and schools.
