Students of Indian School Ghubra excel in Athens world scholar’s cup

Muscat: After qualifying in the initial rounds, a group of 12 students from Indian School Ghubra attended the Global Round of the World Scholar’s Cup held at Athens, Greece from July 18 to July 23.


Alisha Amjad, Aparna Krishnan Reshmy, Faiza Reza, Caroline Judi Benhur, Kshama Mumbai, Khadija Akbar, Nikitha Thomas, Nitu Andrews Machilath, Pavithra Kalaiselvan, Roshna Sharon Manogaran, Sarah Tasnim and Shraavani Sastry accompanied by Eunice Dcoutho took part in the competition. Two out of the four teams representing ISG have qualified for the Final Round to be held at Yale University, USA


This celebration of learning began with a keynote address by the renowned American author Lawrence Watt-Evans.


Through the four main segments of Team Debate, Collaborative Writing, Scholar’s Bowl and Scholar’s Challenge, the students got the opportunity to showcase their knowledge and their skills in writing, debating and quizzing.


It was a proud moment for the ISG delegation when Kshama Mumbai of Class 8 was selected to judge the Debate Showcase. Besides sharing their thoughts and displaying their talents, the scholars also got the opportunity to experience the culture and traditions of different countries from all over the world in the Scholar’s Fair.


At the Scholar’s Ball, the students spent an evening of fun with 1,500 scholars from 42 countries and forged lifelong friendships.


The Closing Ceremony was a thrilling experience as the students went up on stage to receive the many medals awarded to them. Two out of the four teams representing ISG have qualified for the final round to be held at Yale University, USA.
