State Council reviews draft law on aflaj, GCC trademark system

MUSCAT: The State Council Office on Tuesday reviewed the draft law on the organisation and protection of aflaj sites listed on the World Heritage List and the law (Nidham) of the trademarks of the GCC countries referred by the Council of Ministers. The meeting, chaired by Dr Yahya bin Mahfoudh al Mantheri, Chairman of the State Council, discussed the memorandum of understanding between the State Council and the Senate of Pakistan and a proposal to form a parliamentary friendship committee between the two councils to consolidate the existing relations between the Sultanate and Pakistan.


The meeting also reviewed the proposals submitted by members of the Council and reviewed the first two reports on the participation of the Council of Oman in the 12th session of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC member States (PUIC), held in Bamako, capital of Mali, from January 23rd to 28th, and the second visit by the Polish parliamentary delegation to the Sultanate from February 7th to 9th. The council set the date of the 25th and 26th of next month as the dates of the 7th and 8th regular meetings of the second annual session of the sixth term.


Oman-Belarus panel meets


The Omani side of the Parliamentary Friendship Committee between the State Council and the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus held a meeting on Tuesday, chaired by Dr Ahmed bin Ali al Mashikhi, Head of the Committee, in the presence of the committee members. The meeting reviewed the list of members of the newly formed Friendship Committee at the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus. — ONA
