State Council marks Youth Day with parliamentary awareness seminar

MUSCAT: The State Council on Sunday organised an interactive seminar titled, ‘Youth and Parliamentary Awareness’, dedicated to the celebration of the Omani Youth Day, under the auspices of Dr Yahya bin Mahfoudh al Mantheri, Chairman of the State Council.


The seminar comes within the framework of the Council’s keenness on community participation and enhancing communication with the community. It included a number of themes, including parliamentary awareness among youth and how to develop it.


A film about the role of the State Council and the development of Majlis Ash’shura in the Sultanate and its role in the national work through the exercise of powers and competencies was presented during the occasion.


Abdullah bin Saleh al Braiki, Assistant Secretary-General for Public Information and Public Relations, delivered a speech in which he explained that the allocation of the October 26th each year to the Omani youth is one of the manifestations of such a generous patronage of


His Majesty Sultan Qaboos to the youth.


He added that the participation of the State Council on this occasion comes in response to the Royal Directives to pay attention to youth and reflects its keenness to communicate with the community in all its different sectors, especially youth, which constitute the largest proportion of the young Omani society.


He pointed to the activities implemented by the National Youth Commission (NYC) to empower young Omanis, celebrate their achievements, express their aspirations, highlight their role in building their country, contribute to its renaissance and support the march of progress and prosperity.


Training program


The State Council organized a training program on advanced economic measurement using the E-view9 program. The program is organized by the General Secretariat for Information and Research Center Affairs and the Assistant General Secretariat for Meetings and Committees. The program received the participation of researches from State Council, Majlis Ash’shura and Municipal Council. The program, which commenced on Sunday, will continue until November 9. — ONA
