MUSCAT: The delegation from the State Council and Majlis Ash’shura on Wednesday visited Occidental Petroleum Corporation (Oxy-Oman) at the Mukhaizna Field. The Vice-Chairman of the State Council, Shaikh Dr Al Khattab bin Ghalib al Hinai, Rashid bin Ahmed al Shamsi, Vice-Chairman of Majlis Ash’shura, several State Council members, Secretary-General from State Council, Dr Khalid bin Salem al Saidi, and Shaikh Ali bin Nasser al Mahrouqi, Secretary-General of Majlis Ash’shura comprised the delegation.

The Mukhaizna Field is one of the pilot projects in the recruitment of technology to promote production of oil. Oxy has implemented an aggressive drilling and development programme, including a major pattern steam flood project for enhanced oil recovery that utilises some of the largest mechanical vapour compressors ever built. Steve Kelly, President and General Manager of Occidental Oman (Oxy-Oman), and a number of company officials greeted the delegation at Mukhaizna Airport. The delegation viewed a visual presentation on Occidental Oman, and its occupational safety and virtual impact technology at the training centre of Mukhaizna.

Following this, the delegation carried out a field trip to the Mukhaizna Field, and learned about the production processes and central control facilities.

Shaikh Dr Al Khattab said that they were delighted to visit the Mukhaizna Field and experience the facilities of one of the leading oil projects that employs the latest technology to improve production through enhanced oil extraction. He noted that projects implemented at the field site contributed to enhancing its contribution to the national economy, including the Mukhaizna Airport and the oil-for-water desalination plant.

He expressed his deepest gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos for the intense attention he had placed on development and prosperity of Oman.
