MUSCAT: The Department of Chemistry, College of Science, Sultan Qaboos University(SQU), organised an international conference on green and sustainable chemistry under the patronage of Dr Fuad bin Jaafar al Sajwani, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries. The three-day conference deals with a number of topics including green chemical preparations, green chemical and industrial processes, water treatment, nanotechnology for water treatment, lignin chemistry, environmental chemistry, clean and sustainable energy, methods of analysis and technology, green environmental analysis and sustainable stimulation, and analysis of emerging pollutants. The conference is the first of its kind in the Sultanate and aims to strengthen channels of scientific cooperation between the chemistry department at Sultan Qaboos University and other universities. There are 173 participants from 29 countries, with speakers from Germany, the United Kingdom, Austria, Slovakia, Canada, Kuwait and Oman. — ONA
