Sports minister receives delegation participating in Ship for World Youth

MUSCAT: Shaikh Saad bin Mohammed al Saadi, Minister of Sports Affairs, received in his office on Monday members of the Sultanate’s delegation taking part in the 30th journey of the Ship for World Youth (SWY). Shaikh al Saadi stressed the importance of the Omani participation through highlighting Omani genuine customs and traditions during the 30th SWY programme, as well as the necessity to benefit from main objectives sought to be achieved by the programme.


He wished the participants success and safe return to the country. The Sultanate’s participating delegation includes Said bin Ali al Dhuhli as the head, Nouh bin Khusaif al Meghezwi as deputy head and Said bin Nasser al Maamari as an administrator, as well as the following participants; Saasaah al Rawahi, Mohammed al Shezawi, Hajer al Alawiyah, Mohammed al Battashi, Anas al Tamimi, Eyad al Hassani, Hamza al Asmi, Fatima al Muqbaliyah and Abdul Hakim al Sawaei.


The Ship for World Youth Leaders (SWY) programme, operated by the Cabinet Office of the Government of Japan, is a programme that involves youths from Japan and countries around the world. The participants study and discuss common issues from a global perspective and participate in various activities that involve multi- cultural and multi-national exchange opportunities to promote international awareness and leadership. The programme runs for over one month onshore and onboard the ship. The programme expected to commence from mid-January till the beginning of March 2018. The programme set to kick off from Tokyo in Japan. — ONA
