NIZWA, Dec 16 - A sports day was held for the mentally challenged people as part of Al Wafaa fifth forum at Nizwa Sports Complex on Tuesday.
The day was organised by Al Wafaa Rehabilitation Centre for Disabled in Nizwa in cooperation with Wadi Kalbo Team of Nizwa Sports Club.
Her Highness Sayyida Basma bint Fakhri al Said, the Owner of Whispers of Serenity Clinic, presided over the event.
A total of 200 male and female players from Al Wafaa Rehabilitation Centres in Al Dakhiliyah, Al Wafaa Rehabilitation Centre for Disabled in Ibra from Al Sharqiyah North Governorate and Al Wafaa Rehabilitation Centre for Disabled in Ibri from Al Dhahirah Governorate took part in the event.
The day included entertainment and recreational sports.
A variety of games were held, including football, tug-of-war, reach-the-treasure, gymnastics, handball, etc.
The sports forum showed talents of students with disabilities.
It had a great effect on creating a competitive sports atmosphere among the participants.
At the end, the organising committee, supervisors of the event, government and civil institutions cooperating and supporting the activities and winners of various competitions were honoured.
