Muscat, Nov 1 - The government is exploring possibilities about finding suitable jobs for youngsters with disabilities. A lot of these youngsters through specific skill-based programmes may be able to work in certain areas that are manageable for them. Taking concrete efforts in this direction, the Department of Special Education Programme, represented by the Department of Vocational Guidance at the Ministry of Education, recently conducted training visits for students with mental disabilities for Grades 7 -9 to the Lulu Hypermarket to train them on work that suits their abilities and skills.

As per the programmes, the students were able to spend one day a week at the mall to train themselves on some of the approved activities in the presence of school supervisors. The initiative was aimed at developing the positive attitudes towards employing the people with disabilities in various fields. The programme will run from November to April next year, where students will receive a certificate of participation.
