Omani Students Society of Southampton City celebrated the 47th National Day of Oman in Southampton University, UK, on Tuesday. The National Day was a long-awaited occasion for Omani students in Southampton city.
The ceremony was attended by Prof Sabo Padmas and Dr Basheer al Waleed along with guests from Arab countries. Students and their families joined the celebrations.
The event began with a recitation of verses from Holy Quran followed by National Day songs and recitation of poems by Omani scholars and children, besides some dance performances.
A video on Oman was screened on the occasion. Sports activities and an exhibition showcasing Oman’s environmental/ cultural diversity were also held.
The ceremony saw the presentation of gifts to participants by Prof Sabo. A memento was presented to Prof Sabo by Omani Society of Southampton City.
