Smart Oman can boost industrial production, efficiency

April 24 - The Smart City project in Oman can contribute to the to the rationalization of budgets and increase productivity in the oil and gas, transport and logistics and manufacturing.  Speaking at the seminar on Smart Cities in Oman in the sidelines of Comex 2018, Badr al-Mandheri said, worldwide 1.3 million people move to cities every week and 70 per  to 80 per cent of world's population is expected to live in cities by 2050, compared with only three per cent in 1800. He added that cities consume around 60 to 80 of the total world energy production."


He added that smart cities have become the foundation for global competitiveness, especially in the context of the transformation put forward by the fourth industrial Revolution. The key components of this industrial revolution include the Artificial Intelligence, Internet, cloud computing, and information security systems.
