Six ISG students attend conference at SIS Mumbai

Six students from Indian School Al Ghubra — Vyshnav S Nair, Sajina Francis, Rithika B, SadhikaVenkatesh, DariyaSubbiah, Sridhar Vasu Iyengar and the Round Square Coordinator NoellaVaz attended a 3-day conference in Mumbai, on January 27-29. The conference attended by over 150 participants was organised by the Singapore International School (SIS) in partnership with Round Square International on the theme “It’s in Me — Expanding the Circle of Human Concern.”


The conference was one among the many activities undertaken by Round Square, which aims to ensure holistic education in its member schools spread across 40 countries around the world.


The highlight of the conference was the keynote speeches delivered by great personalities who have worked for the welfare of the society all their lives. Among the speakers were the Ramon Magsaysay prize winner Anshu Gupta, Padma Vibhushan awardee Dr Bindeshwar Pathak, Rolex Award winner Sonam Wangchuk


and Kurt Hahn prize winner Sarie Samaki.


Discussions were held on several issues ranging from challenges faced by children in the slums of Mumbai, to the displacement of people in Syria.


The conference also offered varied experiences including a visit to ‘Goonj’, an organisation combating rural poverty through collection and distribution of clothes and other items from cities.
