Shura reviews HM’s comments

The Majlis Ash’shura reviewed the observations on the Oman Penal Code referred to the council by the Royal order of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos. Dr Mohammed bin Ibrahim al Zedjali, Chairman of the Legal and Legislative Committee reviewed the 93 observations related to the Oman Penal Code. This came during the 20th ordinary session of Majlis Ash’shura held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Shaikh Khalid bin Hilal al Maawali, Chairman of Majlis Ash’shura. The chairman of the legislative and legal committee explained that, as ratified by the Council of Oman, regarding the draft laws that are referred to the council, the joint committee from the State Council and Majlis Ash’shura held three meetings to discuss the observations on the Oman Penal Code.


The Majlis Ash’shura also ratified the amended provisions of the Tender Law as referred by the Legal and Legislative Committee except for Article (31) which was approved as per the draft referred by the Economic and Financial Committee, after a vote. The council reviewed the proposal of the flexible work schedule. Mohammed bin Sulaiman al Kindi, member of the Economic and Financial Committee presented a summary about the proposal before the council. The proposal aims to provide flexibility in the work schedule and reduce the repeated and unjustified permission applications made by the employees during the working hours. — ONA
