MUSCAT: The Foreign Ministry represented by the Continental Shelf and Marine Affairs Office in coordination with GNS, the contractor for the project, organised a seminar. It was inaugurated  by Dr Ali bin Saud al Bimani, Vice-Chancellor of Sultan Qaboos University (SQU). The three-day seminar aims at discussing the draft application made by the Sultanate to extend the borders of its continental shelf as the project has made considerable progress and reached advanced stages. The application is expected to be submitted to the UN Continental Shelf Commission at the first quarter of 2018. The seminar also aims at training Omani staff and advising them of the details of the project to ensure sustainability of the project in the future. The seminar will also discuss means of benefiting from the data generated by this national project. — ONA
