Sayyid Fahd receives Turkish Deputy PM

MUSCAT: His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmood al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, on Wednesday received Mehmet Simsek, Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey and joint chairman of Omani-Turkish Joint Committee. HH Sayyid Fahd affirmed that the strong bilateral relations between the two countries are witnessing a remarkable progress, thanks to the sincere desire of the two sides to promote them for the interest of the two friendly peoples.


The meeting discussed means to promote economic and investment ties, developing small and medium enterprises and setting up economic free zones, exchanging expertise and stressing the importance of activating the bilateral agreements and memoranda of understanding signed between the two countries. Simsek hailed the Sultanate’s foreign policy and the growing bilateral relations of the two countries. The meeting was attended by Yahya bin Said al Jabri, Chairman of Special Economic Zone Authority in Duqm (SEZAD) and joint chairman of Omani-Turkish Joint Committee, and Atilay Ersan, Turkish Ambassador to the Sultanate.


Meeting with ministers


Mehmet Simsek, Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey, also met Darwish bin Ismaeel bin Ali al Balushi, Minister Responsible for Financial Affairs, Dr Ali bin Masoud al Sunaidy, Minister of Commerce and Industry, and Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al Futaisi, Minister of Transport and Communications. The meeting discussed means to promote bilateral development and investments. The meeting was attended by the Turkish delegation and senior officials.


Meeting with Chairman of State Council


Dr Yahya bin Mahfoudh al Mantheri, Chairman of the State Council, received Mehmet Simsek, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister and his accompanying delegation. The two sides reviewed the bilateral relations and means of developing the existing cooperation between the two countries. The Chairman of State Council praised the good relations between the Sultanate and Turkey and the keenness of the two countries to continuously develop the existing cooperation between them in various domains. He highlighted the importance of mutual visits and their role in enhancing bilateral relations and opening new paths of cooperation between the Sultanate and the Republic of Turkey. In this regard, he mentioned the visit of the President of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey to the Sultanate. Further on, the State Council Chairman stressed on the importance of economic and investment cooperation between the two countries in light of the promising investment opportunities. The Turkish Deputy Prime Minister pointed to the commonalities between the two countries and its people, which contributes to enhancing bilateral relations and supporting cooperation in all fields. — ONA
