SalamAir launches flights to Shiraz

MUSCAT: The first flight of SalamAir (Oman’s first budget carrier) to the Iranian City of Shiraz was launched on Wednesday from Muscat International Airport due to the increasing demand from customers on this destination.


Dr Anwar bin Mohammed al Rowas, Deputy Chairman of SalamAir, said that SalamAir is aware of the importance of tourist and health destinations, such as Shiraz, noting that the Iranian City of Shiraz is famous for its medical tourism, especially in the field of ophthalmology.


Captain Mohammad Ahmed, Executive Manager of SalamAir said that the inauguration of the Muscat-Shiraz-Muscat route is a new addition to the airline’s response to customers’ requests, as it is considered a medical and tourist destination, as well as the presence of an Iranian community from Shiraz in Muscat.


He added that SalamAir is planning other destinations in the Islamic Republic of Iran, namely Tehran and Mashhad.


He added that SalamAir will launch new destination this year, adding that they will be Baku in Azerbaijan, Tbilisi in Georgia, Dhaka in Bangladesh and Kathmandu in Nepal, as well as some of the new Gulf destinations, such as Kuwait and Riyadh.


He added that SalamAir has increased the number of flights to Doha recently to seven flights a week with one flight per day, indicating that there will be a direct flight from Salalah to Jeddah and in the coming month of Ramadhan there will be a direct flight from Salalah to Taif and Muscat to Taif. — ONA
