MUSCAT: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) represented by the Directorate-General of Traffic has set specifications for car decorations during the National Day celebrations urging motorists to comply with the regulations.

Lt Col Mohammed bin Hilal al Zedjali, Director-General of Traffic, said the stickers (or clothes) should be properly fixed and should not obscure driver’s vision.

Besides, the decoration materials should not cover the windscreens, side window glass, registration plate, the car engine or the head lights.

The stickers placed on the rear windshield should be transparent.

Only decent words and phrases which suit the national occasion are allowed to be written on vehicles.

“The original colour and shape of the car should not be altered,” Lt Col Al Zedjali said, insisting that the materials used for decoration should be compliant with traffic safety standards.

The ROP has banned motorists from using the Royal emblems (the crown, dagger and two swords). Decorations are allowed on vehicles from November 1 to 30, 2017.
