Royal Hospital’s outstanding projects reviewed

MUSCAT: The Directorate-General of Royal Hospital (RH) on Wednesday held an event to review the hospital’s outstanding health projects. The gathering was held under the auspices of Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al Saeedi, Minister of Health.


The event was organised with the aim of outlining the outstanding health projects that contributed in upgrading the quality of the hospital’s medical care in addition to reinforcing development and innovation policy among the healthcare providers, which would positively add to the enhancement of the therapeutic and diagnostic care of the hospital and its affiliated centres.


It was further aimed at keeping pace with the latest international standards and measures in the field of healthcare through implementing these projects in the RH.


Dr Qasim al Salmi, RH Director-General, stressed that the hospital has encouraged all the staff to offer innovative initiatives and projects that will enhance the healthcare provided to the patients at the Royal Hospital.


Accordingly, about 50 developmental projects in various health and administrative fields were produced.


Moreover, the meeting highlighted the hospital’s role in performance enhancement highlighting that the Royal Hospital has a specialised unit for performance development.


To further enhance this aspect, the hospital signed a cooperation agreement in 2017 with a professional development centre, Lawrence Technological University, USA, to carry out an intensive training for 31 administrative and health cadres with the aim of preparing participants for the use of the ‘Lean Management’ programme.


The most excellent projects of the hospital’s departments were then presented including the ICU’s Golden Hour, Adult Emergency implementation of Lean Management programme, the National Genetic Centre project in launching accurate specialised examinations, Catheter project, dealing with


emergency for pregnant women, in addition to launching of Lifestyle Change clinic.


Moreover, the achievements of multidisciplinary obesity team were highlighted, along with the development of peritoneal dialysis in the renal department, developing nursing clinical skills project, services at the immunity and allergy department, and the accomplishments of launching Adult Medicine Department.
