Royal Guard of Oman gears up for joint war games

Muscat: The Royal Guard of Oman (RGO) on Sunday deployed its commands, formations, weapons, equipment and units for Al Shumookh 2 and Al Saif Al Sareea 3 (Swift Sword 3). The RGO is taking part at military exercises along with SAF corps and other military, security and civil organisations. The RGO has dedicated the necessary resources and plans to ensure effective participation in the exercise plan. Omani-British Joint Working Group


The 14th round of the Omani-British Joint Working Group held at the Foreign Ministry jointly chaired by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, Secretary-General of the Foreign Ministry, Alistair Burt, UK’s Minister of State for the Middle East at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.


The meeting covered the relations and constructive cooperation between the Sultanate and the UK in political, economic and cultural fields. The two sides stressed the keenness to develop and enhance business, tourism and investment partnerships. They shared views on a range of regional and international issues of common interest and their keenness to continue working hard to reach political consensus for these issues through peaceful dialogue to achieve peace and security and create an atmosphere of understanding and harmony.


The visit coincides with the joint Omani- British military exercise Al Saif Al Sareea 3, which continues up to the end of October 2018.


The meeting was attended by Shaikh Yahya bin Abdullah al Araimi, Head of the Economic Affairs at the Foreign Ministry, Khalid bin Hashil al Meselhi, Head of the Secretary-General Office Department, Shaikh Badr bin Mohammed al Hinai, Head of West Europe Department, and Hamish Cowell, UK Ambassador to the Sultanate, and officials. — ONA
