Muscat, August 21 - Yet another accident was reported on the ill-fated Salalah road, in which three people died on Monday morning.

A car and a truck collided in the Wilayat of Haima at around 6.50 am, resulting in the death of three expatriates.

According to an official at a local police station, two of the victims were Pakistani nationals and another an Indian national, who has been identified as Pradeep Kumar, 45.

Kumar and his Pakistani colleagues were running a firm in Wadi Kabir and were heading towards Haima.

On Friday, a head-on-collision between two vehicles in Haima had left eight dead, according to the Royal Oman Police (ROP). Six of the deceased were Omani citizens, while two were Yemeni nationals.

The accident took place about 30 km south of Haima.

Two of the injured were airlifted to a hospital in Nizwa.

A preliminary report said the accident occurred after a vehicle, which had a tyre burst, hit the other vehicle coming from the opposite direction.

On August 15, twenty-five passengers were injured when a private bus met with an accident on Muscat-Nizwa road near Jifnain.

Passengers, who suffered light to serious injuries, were admitted to different hospitals.

Three people died and 13 were injured when three vehicles collided at around 8 pm on July 25.

Two Emiratis died on the spot following the accident, which was a result of an attempt to overtake from the wrong side. A Saudi woman died later.

Both vehicles caught fire after ramming into each other, while one of the vehicles crashed onto another car which had Omanis on board.
