RO 100 fine for not wearing mask in public

Muscat: Royal Oman Police (ROP) had raised the fine for not wearing masks in public places in July this year.


The fine for not wearing masks in Oman was raised to RO 100 from RO 20 as per the decision mentioned in the official gazette on Sunday.


The fine will be for not wearing masks in public places (all commercial and industrial activities, workplace in public and private, in transportation and other places, the ROP said.


The Supreme Committee had decided to toughen the penalties against the violators of the decisions issued by the committee by moving on to deal sternly with the violators in various manners to ensure the safety of individuals and the society in general. This may include publishing the names and pictures of the violators in the media.


Lt Gen Hasan bin Mohsin al Shraiqi, Inspector General of Police and Customs, on Sunday issued Resolution 2020/194 that amended some provisions of Resolution 2020/151 regarding regulations for dealing with violators of the decisions of the Supreme Committee.
