MUSCAT: The Royal Navy of Oman (RNO) on Monday decommissioned its naval vessel Musandam. The ceremony was held under the auspices of Rear Admiral Abdullah bin Khamis al Raisi, Commander of the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO), at Said Bin Sultan Naval Base. The ceremony began with the welcome salute to the chief guest. After that, the chief guest inspected the front parade column and shook hands with the ship’s crew and former captains. The chief gave a speech in which he hailed the ship’s contributions to the development of Oman’s Royal Navy since joining the service in the 1980s. After that, the ship’s flag was taken down and was handed over to the naval commander. At the end of the ceremony, the patron handed over souvenirs to the former captains of the vessel. The function was attended by a number of senior officers, senior retired officers, ship crews of RNO’s fleet and other personnel.
