The Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs (MECA) said  that there are no truth in reports that the ministry plans to disallow the use of R22 refrigerant in air conditioners and other cooling systems, and replace it with a new type. R410.

R-22, also referred to as Freon, has been discontinued in many markets as it is being a hydro-chlorofluorocarbon (HCFC). It has been known to contribute to ozone depletion.

R-410A is is a hydro-fluorocarbon (HFC) which does not hurt the ozone layer. Therefore, it is approved for new residential air conditioners and is on its way to becoming the standard in many countries.
