Rehabilitation centre for disabled children in Liwa inaugurated

LIWA: Al Wafa Rehabilitation Centre for Disabled Children at Liwa in North Al Batinah Governorate was officially opened on Monday. The project, implemented by Jusoor Foundation in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Development at a cost of RO 250,000, will provide rehabilitation services to more than 120 children with disabilities.
The ceremony was held under the auspices of Shaikh Mohammed bin Said al Kalbani, Minister of Social Development, in the presence of Shaikh Muhanna bin Saif al Lamki, Governor of North Al Batinah, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Jusoor Foundation, and a number of dignitaries and officials from governorates.
Al Kalbani said that the project comes within the framework of continued cooperation with Jusoor Foundation, which is a role model in social responsibility. He said the project is not the first one to be implemented by the ministry in cooperation with Jusoor, and it will not be the last. This cooperation will continue to establish sustainable social projects that meet the needs of society in its various civil institutions supervised by the Ministry of Social Development.






Omar bin Mohammed Al Abri, Acting Executive Director of Jusoor Foundation, said: “The opening of this centre is part of a series of projects being carried out by Jusoor according to the social responsibility programme of Orpic, Sohar Aluminium and Vale companies.
He said the Jusoor Foundation continues to implement its projects that target the needy. In this connection, Jusoor will soon announce its plan for 2019.
“The centre is built on a total area of 1,200 square metres and includes 17 physiotherapy rooms, special education classes, speech therapy rooms, autism treatment hall, individual treatment rooms and theatre as well as administrative offices,” he added.
The centre will accommodate children with different types of disabilities, including cerebral palsy, mental disabilities, autism and speech impairment.
