MUSCAT:  The registration for the third edition of the entrepreneurship awards commenced on Tuesday and will continue until July 22, the Public Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises (Riyada) said. The registration can be done online through its website (https://theaward.riyada.om). The awareness campaign recently concluded, which provided an orientation about the award, its rules, categories, criteria and registration process.

“The Entrepreneurship Award is a great opportunity for small, micro and medium businesses as it desires to enhance the capacity of entrepreneurship and SMEs to be effective contributors to an evolving economy, based on technical know-how, research, latest skill sets and innovation,” said Tariq Sulaiman al Farsi, Chairman of the Entrepreneurship Award Committee and member of the Board of Directors of Riyada.

The Entrepreneurship Awards is awarded in 15 categories: The Entrepreneurship Award, which include Best Entrepreneur, Best Educational Initiative, Best Media Initiative and Best SME Development Initiative; Entrepreneurship Award for SME, which includes eight awards: Best Home Business, Best Micro Business, Best Small Business (industrial, trading, service) and Best Medium Business (industrial, trading, service). For those interested in supporting entrepreneurship and SMEs, the third category offers three awards: Best Support from Large Company, Best Support from a Government Institution and Best Financial Support.

Complementing the country’s several initiatives and efforts to diversify its economy and supporting both public and private sector, the entrepreneurship award focuses on enhancing the culture of entrepreneurship in the Omani society.

The awards aim at strengthening the performances of micro, small and medium enterprises while building their capabilities to prepare them for a competitive market.
