Refineries, petroleum industries production up by 14.6 pc in Nov

MUSCAT: The statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) indicated that the production of refineries and petroleum industries in the Sultanate increased by 14.6 per cent at the end of November 2017, compared to the production recorded during the same period of 2016. The report showed that the refineries increased regular gasoline 91 production to 62 per cent to reach 9,528,000 barrels at the end of November 2017, compared to the same period in 2016, as its sales increased by 33 per cent to stood at 7,290,000 barrels, while the exports reached 1,591,000 barrels.


The gasoline 95 production declined by 16 per cent, compared with same period in 2016, to reach 13,547,000 barrels, as its sales declined to 17 per cent to reach 13,573,000 barrels. The production of gas oil (diesel) increased by 14 per cent to reach till last November to 22,645,000 barrels, but its sales declined by 7 per cent to reach 14,950,000 barrels, while its exports increased by 70 per cent, compared to the same period in 2016 to stood at 6,832,000 barrels. The jet fuel production increased by 38 per cent to reach 6,477,000 barrels with an increase as well in sales by 8 per cent to reach 4,434,000 barrels, and its exports also increased by 66 per cent to reach 1,590,000 barrels.


The Sultanate’s production of the liquefied petroleum gas till last November rose by 55 per cent to reach 4,484,000 barrels with a 6-per cent increase in the sales to reach 2,101,000 barrels. Its exports also increased by 87 per cent to reach 2,348,000 barrels.


Gasoline production increased by 14 per cent, compared with the same period in 2016, to reach 220,000 metric tonnes.


Its exports also rose by 10 per cent to reach 210,000 metric tonnes. Paraxylene production declined by 3 per cent to stand at 592,000 metric tonnes, but its export registered an increase by 6 per cent to reach 602,000 metric tonnes. Polypropylene production reached 244,000 metric tonnes, comprising a remarkable increase by 98 per cent, asits sales also increased by 100 per cent to reach 22,000 metric tonnes.
