Oman national football team will take on Jordan in a preparatory match on October 7 in Muscat.

The recently-announced friendly match through OFA twitter account is part of the Red Warriors' preparations for the Joint Qualification matches for World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Championship in China in 2023.

Asian Football Confederation (AFC) recently announced the proposed dates for resuming the World Cup qualification matches as the national team will face Afghanistan on October 13 in Tajikistan. In November, the Sultanate football team will take on Qatar on November 12 in Muscat in the top clash of the group which will decide the topper of the group.

The last match for the 'Red Warriors' will be against Bangladesh on November 17 in the latter's home.

The Croatian coach Branko Ivankovic had said during the initial press conference, after appointing him as head coach of the national team, that advancing to the second round qualification for World Cup Qatar 2022 is the top priority for him. He confirmed that Oman’s players have the ability to be competent enough to take on any top team in Asia.

The 65-year-old had signed a two-year deal in January. The Croatian coach led the team at two domestic camps for the local players in February and he visited Oman’s clubs to have a better idea on Oman’s football organisation.
