Oman Meteorology's weather expert clarified that the clouds and rains experienced in Oman are not associated with the tropical storm Ockhi as discussed commonly in the social media.

The weather Oman is experiencing is part of trough in the upper air over the northern part of the Sultanate of Oman bringing in cloud formations and rains in the coastal areas and Al Hajar Mountains.

The rains are expected in Musandam Governorate, Al Batinah, Muscat, Coastal areas of South Al Sharqiya and Al Hajar Mountains.

North East winds are expected to be strong especially over the sea.  The height of the waves are expected to be over three meters.

The weather forecaster asked the public to be cautious while going to the beaches and not to venture out into dolphin watching or other sea activities.

Although the rains are mainly expected to be slight to moderate there are chances of flowing wadis, requesting to be cautious especially in the mountainous areas as moderate rains with thundershowers are a possibility in Al Hajar areas.
