Muscat, Dec 4 - Rains are expected in the coastal areas and Al Hajar mountains because of the trough in the upper air over northern parts of Oman, the Met Office has said. Rains are expected in Musandam Governorate, Al Batinah, Muscat, coastal areas of South Al Sharqiyah and Al Hajar mountains. North-east winds are expected to be strong over the sea. The height of the waves is expected to be over three metres. The public have been cautioned when going to the beaches and have been advised not to venture out into the sea for dolphin-watching or any other activity. Although rains are expected to be slight to moderate, there are chances of overflowing wadis. Therefore, the Met Office has advised caution especially in the mountainous areas as moderate rainfall with thundershowers are likely around Al Hajar. The weather expert also clarified that the cloud formation and rains in Oman are not associated with the tropical storm Ockhi as mentioned on social media.
