Progress on Science, Math Chain Project reviewed

MUSCAT: In line with the Sultanate’s keenness to develop educational process, Dr Madeeha bint Ahmed al Shaibaniyah, Minister of Education, presided over the meeting of the Main Committee of Science and Mathematics Chain Project in the attendance of high ranking officials and directors of education general directorates in the governorates. The minister pointed out that the purpose of the meeting is to learn about the project’s executive position, challenges and solutions.  “The development principals are based on the directives of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, who stressed the importance of the development of education in line with the needs of society, educational development march, fundamentals of the education strategy and upshots of international studies carried out by the ministry,” she highlighted.


Dr Madeeha pointed out that the implementation of the Science and Mathematics Chain Project is part of the development system, which has been adopted by the ministry. During the meeting, Asma bint Salem al Balushi, Director of Applied Sciences Curriculum Development, and Director of Chains Project, presented two working papers on ‘Science and Math Chains Project Phase 1 (1-4)’, which reviewed the present progress of the project from its inception to its application during the first semester of the academic year 2017-2018 and training aspects that were implemented for supervisors and teachers of science and mathematics at the central and decentralised levels. The second paper discussed the phase application, training mechanisms and roles expected from the directorates in other governorates.
