MUSCAT: A total of 7,580 job-seekers have been appointed in the private sector up to January 25, including 5,122 men and 2,458 women. The hiring is part of the implementation of the Council of Ministers’ decision to employ 25,000 nationals, which began on December 3, 2017. As per the Council of Ministers’ decision, the first phase of hiring will end in May this year. Out of the 7,580, the qualification of 3,825 (50.4 per cent) is below General Education Diploma (GED), 2,490 (33 per cent) GED and 1,265 university degree holders.

A total of 1,357 job-seekers were hired between January 16 and 22, which indicates the ministry’s keenness to speed up the employment process. Interviews and employment procedures at all the recruitment centres will be restricted only to the job-seekers summoned by the ministry through announcements on newspapers and the official Twitter account of the ministry in collaboration with the Public Authority for Manpower Register. The names of 1,953 job-seekers have been published, for whom interviews will be conducted between January 28 and 31. The ministry will continue to publish the names of job-seekers to undergo interviews until the end of the first phase of national employment programme. — ONA
