Poland’s parliamentarians visit SQU

MUSCAT: The College of Economics and Political Science and the International Cooperation Office at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), hosted a delegation of the Polish side of the Parliamentary Friendship Committee between the State Council of Oman and the Polish Senate, headed by Senator Michal Swereynski. The three Senate members Michal Sewerynski, Jan Maria Jackowski and Kzimierz Kleina, presented a seminar on parliamentary development in Poland at the College of Economics and Political Science.


The visit of the Polish Senate members to Oman is aimed at strengthening the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries in various fields including trade, education and culture.


In the seminar, the senators explained the evolution of parliamentary system in Poland which is a republic formed on the democratic basis.


“The legislative power in the country is vested in the Parliament consisting of the Lower House ‘Sejm’ and the Upper House ‘Senate’. The executive power is vested in the President of Poland and the Council of Ministers and the judicial power is vested in courts and tribunals,” they said.
