MUSCAT, Dec 17 - For the first time, a cultural contest was organised in the Wilayat of Al Khabourah which witnessed an unusual crowd.
In the framework of the objectives of empowering women and highlighting their role in society, the Social Development Committee in Al Khabourah organised the closing ceremony of the cultural contest titled ‘Poet of Khabourah 2017’.
The contest was held from November 1 to December 5 under the patronage of Shaikh Sulaiman bin Salim al Mahrouqi, in the presence of heads of government departments and elders of the state, citizens and lovers of art.
The ceremony included the presentation of opera, songs and plays on the law in addition to Mawail and poems recited. The winners also expressed their love for the homeland.
Poet Wafaa bint Salem al Yaqoubia bagged the first place in the Nabatee poetry, while poet Dhekrayat bint Abdullah al Ajamiyah won the first place in the Faseeh poetry.
At the end of the ceremony, the patron honoured the winners and participants of the competition.
