Photography contest winners honoured

MUSCAT: Dr Abdulmunim bin Mansour al Hasani, Minister of Information, sponsored the awards and winner-honouring ceremony of Iqra International Photography Competition 2018.


The competition is organised in conjunction with the Muscat International Book Fair 2018 and organised by the Oman Photographic Society (OPS) of the Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science at the Diwan of Royal Court under the auspices of the International Federation of Photographic Arts (FIAP).


947 photographs from 33 countries participated in the competition, 143 of them were accepted for 98 participants.


Dr Abdulmunim handed over the awards. The jury of the international competition were honoured.


The gold, silver and bronze medals were given to the first three winners in the FIAP art. The bronze medal was won by Ali Reza Rajai of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the silver by Majid bin Ubaid al Ameri, and the gold medal went to Hamad bin Mohammed al Ghailani.


The OPS awards were also presented to the top three winners. The bronze was won by Jawad Risayes of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the silver medalist Hamad bin Rashid al Ghanbousi, the gold medal by Axo An of Vietnam.


The best photographer award went to the Omani photographer Hamad bin Mohammed al Ghailani.
