Pharma care conference from Feb 19-21

MUSCAT: The upcoming 8th Pharmaceutical Care Conference, which is organised by the Ministry of Health (MoH), represented by the Directorate-General of Medical Supplies (DGMS) from February 19-21, is expected to cover spectrum of workshops, lectures and parallel sessions related to the advanced future pharmacy practice. The topics will be conducted with the aim of achieving quality and effectiveness in the management of profession that contributes in the promotion of leadership concepts.


This was revealed by Ph Nussaiba bint Habib bin Mohammed, Director-General of DGMS, who added that the conference aims at framing the work of protocols for a scientifically sound research studies and innovation in the field of pharmacy, therefore improving the role of community pharmacists in delivering better care to patients. Furthermore, a parallel event on health system development under the theme “Responsive Health Systems: The Path to Universal Health Coverage” will be run within the current session of the conference that addresses challenges of health systems and the public health through the conduction of lectures, workshops, as well as oral talks.


Remarking on the integration of this new theme, Dr Ahmed al Qasmi, Director-General of Planning and Studies, has assured that within the preparation of the conference the Directorate-General has formed a workforce led by the section of Health Policies and System in addition to a technical committee including all concerned Directorates-General namely the Primary Health Care, the Specialised Medical Care, Centre of Quality Assurance and Nursing Affairs.


The technical committee was assigned to develop initial perspectives for the agenda of the theme as well as sending invitations to local and international professionals to present working papers to be included within the programme agenda. The committee was further assigned the work of setting up standards for the revision and selection of the presented scientific papers.


Moreover, the DGP&S has invited international experts who are involved in the development of health system field including the Director of Health Systems and Economics at the WHO-Geneva, the Director of the Health Systems of the WHO- EMRO, an Expert in Health Financing and Economics at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the Director of the Emergency Operations at the WHO- EMRO.


Meanwhile, Ph Nussaiba and Dr Ahmed al Qasmi called upon all health workers in the public and private sectors to register in the conference via (http://pharmacareconference.om) as it is a platform for sharing ideas and identifying updates and developments in healthcare on both the national and international levels.
