The Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE) has organised an extensive promotional campaign in Bangalore and Chennai in India, where a number of open discussion sessions and meetings were held in the presence of leading businessmen and investors from inside and outside of India. The businessmen and investors were acquainted with the investment opportunities available in the Sultanate.

The meetings highlighted the vision, mission and objectives of PEIE as well as the current and future expansion plans of the various industrial estates pertaining to PEIE. A seminar was also held in Bangalore, in cooperation with the Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce, which was attended by a group of interested businessmen.

On the sidelines of the visit to India, the PEIE delegation visited Manyata Embassy Business Park, in addition to institutes specialised in the field of training and information technology. During the promotional campaign in India, PEIE officials elaborated on the investment climate in the Sultanate, and the advantages and incentives that are being accessed by the local and foreign investors. In addition, PEIE officials emphasised on the significant geographical location enjoyed by the Sultanate at the entrance to the Gulf in the middle of the East-West trade routes, ensuring easy access to markets in the Middle East, India, Africa and Europe.

PEIE officials also briefed the businessmen in India on the vision of PEIE, which is to enhance the Sultanate’s position as a leading regional centre of manufacturing, ICT, innovation and entrepreneurship excellence, and its mission in attracting industrial investments and providing continued support, through regionally and globally competitive strategies, good infrastructure, value adding services, and easy governmental processes.

It should be noted that this promotional campaign comes following the promulgation of the Royal Decree no. 32/2015, through which PEIE has become more autonomous to catch up with the speed required to facilitate setting up new industrial projects, more so in attracting foreign investments. This Royal Decree empowers PEIE to offer sector-specific and cluster-specific incentives and benefits as needed. PEIE will soon set up a one-stop-shop facility to provide all government services, including issuance of licenses, approvals, visas and activity registration.
